Dough and Filling
- 8 ounces crescent roll dough (one tube)
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 8 ounces thin sliced deli ham
- 8 ounces thin sliced Swiss cheese
Butter Topping
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh Italian parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven. Preheat your oven to 350℉ (175℃) and spray an 8×8-inch baking pan with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
- Prepare the Crescent Dough. On a lightly floured cutting board, unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 4 rectangles by pinching the perforations to seal them into solid rectangles.
- Add Mustard, Ham, and Cheese. Spread each rectangle evenly with Dijon mustard, then layer the thinly sliced ham and Swiss cheese on top of each rectangle.
- Roll and Slice. Starting from the short side of each rectangle, roll up the dough tightly and pinch the edges to seal the roll. Slice each roll into 5 to 6 pinwheels or roll-ups.
- Place in Baking Pan. Arrange the pinwheels cut-side-up in the prepared baking pan closely but without overlapping.
- Prepare Butter Mixture and Brush. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, finely chopped parsley, and garlic powder. Brush this mixture generously over the pinwheels.
- Add Poppy Seeds and Bake. Sprinkle the poppy seeds evenly over the brushed pinwheels. Bake in the preheated oven until they are golden brown, approximately 15 minutes.
- Serve Warm. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving warm as an appetizer or snack.
Notes
- You can substitute Swiss cheese with cheddar or another melting cheese for a different flavor.
- If you prefer spicy, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the butter mixture.
- Make sure to pinch the crescent dough perforations well to prevent filling leakage during baking.
- For a crispier bottom, place pinwheels on a parchment-lined baking sheet instead of a sprayed pan.
- These pinwheels can be prepared ahead and baked just before serving to save time.
