Ingredients
Scale
Cinnamon Chips
- 6 6-inch flour tortillas
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
Fruit Salsa
- 2 1/2 tablespoons honey
- 2 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 1/2 tablespoons strawberry preserves or seedless raspberry preserves
- 16 ounces strawberries, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 2 mangos or 2 peeled peaches, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 3 kiwis, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1/2 pint fresh blueberries
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the cinnamon chips.
- Make cinnamon sugar mix: In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon, setting this mixture aside for topping the tortillas.
- Prepare tortillas: Place the flour tortillas flat on a cookie sheet. Brush each tortilla evenly with melted butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over them uniformly.
- Cut tortillas: Using a pizza cutter or a sharp knife, slice each tortilla into 6 triangular pieces, like slicing a pie.
- Bake chips: Bake the tortilla pieces in the preheated oven for 12 minutes until crisp and lightly golden. Remove and let cool completely to crisp up further.
- Mix fruit salsa dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, fresh lemon juice, and strawberry or raspberry preserves until well combined.
- Combine fruit: In a large serving bowl, combine all the prepared fruits — strawberries, mango or peaches, kiwis, and blueberries.
- Toss salsa: Pour the honey-lemon preserves dressing over the fruit and gently stir to coat all pieces evenly.
- Chill the salsa: Refrigerate the fruit salsa until ready to serve, ideally within 2-3 hours for maximum freshness and flavor.
- Serve: Serve the chilled fruit salsa alongside the cooled cinnamon chips for dipping and enjoy this vibrant, sweet treat.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the fruit salsa by using other fruits like apples, raspberries, blackberries, or nectarines according to your preference.
- Use a basting brush to spread the melted butter evenly on the tortillas for easier application.
- Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easier cleanup, but be cautious when cutting the tortillas to avoid damaging the mat.
- If you don’t have preserves, substitute with an equal amount of brown sugar or double the honey for sweetness.
- Cinnamon chips can be baked in advance and stored in an airtight container for several days to maintain freshness.
